Douglas R. HargraveDouglas R. Hargrave

Douglas R. Hargrave was born in MT. Vernon, Texas on May 3, 1932. His father Fred Ernest Hargrave and his mother, Carrie Lee Hargrave, are both deceased. He is the fifth child of fourteen children. He married Lorine Newton, who is now Evangelist Lorine Hargrave, in 1954. They are now proud parents of five lovely daughters, two of whom are twins. Of their daughters four are saved and filled with the Holy Ghost and working in the Church of God in Christ.

In 1956, Douglas was saved, sanctified, and received the baptism of the Holy Ghost under the leadership of Elder R. A. Paige of Paige Temple COGIC in Barstow, California. He was then appointed as Deacon. In 1958 young Deacon Hargrave and his family moved to San Bernadino, California where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Supt. at New Jerusalem COGIC; under the leadership of Supt. Herbert C. Pugh.  While teaching Sunday school, Deacon Hargrave began to bring forth the word of God and on February 28, 1967 he received his ministers license. His first sermon came from St. Luke 5:4. "Launch Out Into The Deep". On June 14 1967, he was ordained an Elder. Elder Hargrave was appointed Assistant Pastor to Supt. Pugh and he remained there until he was called to Pastor Greater Cornerstone COGIC in 1971.

From 1973-1979, Pastor Hargrave was the Leadership Assistant to Supt. K.C. McDowell of the Glen Valley District, and in 1980, he placed his membership with the Riverside District, under the leadership of the former Supt. Hardy Johnson. He continued in the Riverside District as the President of Fellowship Meetings, under the Late Elder Franklin Knight, who was appointed Supt. over the Riverside District in 1986. In 1987, he moved up to the position of 1st Administrator to Supt. Knight.

In August 1992, following the untimely death of Supt. Knight, Pastor Hargrave was appointed Superintendent Pro Tem, and later Superintendent over the Riverside District, Southern California - Jurisdiction #1, on February 20, 1993 by Bishop Charles E. Blake.
